Using Hermes Agent for sales means running Nous Research's open-source agent as a sales assistant that researches leads in a real browser, prepares meeting briefs, drafts follow-ups for a person to approve, and posts a daily pipeline digest to your team's Telegram or Slack on a cron schedule. Hermes is MIT licensed, so you host it yourself and choose the model.

This page covers sales only. For the wider picture, start with our Hermes Agent for business guide. Each workflow below uses a feature named in the Hermes docs.

What Hermes Agent for sales can do

The Hermes docs describe these parts. Here is how a sales team would use each one.

Hermes Agent for sales: CRM access, what the docs confirm

The Nous-approved MCP catalog in v0.23.0 includes Attio and Close, and both connect to the vendor's own hosted MCP server. The plugin catalog also has a community Twenty CRM plugin. HubSpot and Pipedrive have no entry, and the Salesforce entry is a community plugin for chatting with Hermes inside Salesforce Chatter, not a CRM data connector.

What the docs do confirm:

A three-person sales team that tracks deals in a shared sheet could start there, then move to a CRM's own MCP server later.

Lead research with Hermes Agent

Write a short skill called lead-research. Tell it what a good lead looks like for you and what to collect. Then any rep can ask for a brief.

Sample prompt from Telegram: "Research Brightside Dental at brightsidedental.example. Use the lead-research skill. Give me what they sell, who runs it, recent news, the tools they mention on their site, and three questions to open the call with. Save the brief to the leads folder."

What it produces: a one-page brief with links back to the pages it read. Nothing is sent to the prospect. For big lists, the docs say delegate_task spawns child agents with their own context, so ten leads can be split across subagents and only their summaries return.

Follow-up drafts with approvals in Hermes Agent

Follow-ups are where you want a human in charge. Keep the agent on drafting.

Sample prompt: "Read my notes from today's call with Brightside Dental in the calls folder. Draft a follow-up email that recaps their two concerns, answers each in one sentence, and proposes two times next week from my calendar. Do not send. Show me the draft here first."

What it produces: a draft in the chat that you edit and send yourself. The Hermes email guide gives the same advice: have the agent draft and show you the message before sending. If an email connection runs through an MCP server, mark it trust: untrusted and Hermes will ask before any write. The docs also describe a clarify tool that asks questions one card at a time in Telegram or Discord when the agent needs more detail.

A sales team bot on Telegram or Slack with Hermes Agent

The Hermes docs include a Team Telegram Assistant tutorial: a bot that authorized team members can message, with per-user sessions and scheduled tasks delivered to a team channel. That is a ready pattern for sales.

See the best messaging app for Hermes Agent if you are choosing between Telegram and Slack.

Daily pipeline digests with a Hermes Agent cron job

Sample cron prompt: "Every weekday at 8am, read the pipeline sheet. List deals with no activity in seven days, meetings booked today, and deals marked closing this month. Suggest one next step for each stale deal. Deliver to the sales Slack channel."

What it produces: a short morning message the team reads before standup. The docs say cron jobs block dangerous commands by default (cron_mode deny), so an unattended digest cannot do anything destructive. Our Hermes Agent cron job page explains schedules and delivery targets.

For meeting prep, a second job can read today's calendar through the google-workspace skill and send a brief per meeting to the rep's DM.

Model choice and cost control for Hermes Agent sales work

The docs let you set models at several levels. A cron job uses a per-job pin first, then cron.model, then your main model. Subagents can run on their own model through delegation.model. Per-job reasoning effort can also be set.

A practical split: digests and lead scraping on a smaller model, follow-up drafts on a stronger one. The v0.23.0 release notes add spend limits for paid MCP tools, and Hermes asks before a chat goes over its limit. For how we compare models, see Goldie Bench.

Hermes Agent for sales FAQ

Does Hermes Agent connect to HubSpot or Salesforce?

Not through the catalog. HubSpot has no entry, and the Salesforce entry only lets you chat with Hermes in Salesforce Chatter. Attio and Close do have Nous-approved catalog entries. For any other CRM, add the vendor's own MCP server in config.yaml and set it to trust: untrusted so every write asks first.

Can Hermes Agent send sales emails on its own?

It can be set up to, but keep drafts as the output and send them yourself. That way every message to a prospect has a human check.

Can my whole sales team use one Hermes bot?

Yes. The docs' Team Telegram Assistant tutorial covers a shared bot with per-user authorization and separate sessions for each person.
