Telegram Lobster AI Agent Setup: 5 Steps To Live

The Telegram Lobster AI Agent setup is genuinely simple, and this is the 5-step walkthrough to get Lobster Father live. Let me skip the marketing — by the end of this post, you'll have a Telegram Lobster AI Agent running in 15-20 minutes total.

What You're Building

By the end of this guide, you'll have a working AI agent inside Telegram that can reply to messages on your behalf, welcome new community members, answer FAQs, filter spam, and escalate complex issues to you when they need human attention.

That's a real virtual assistant running on Telegram, set up in under half an hour.

Prerequisites

Three things to have ready before you start.

The first is a Telegram account. If you don't have one, install Telegram and sign up — it takes about 2 minutes.

The second is a clear idea of what your agent should do. Write it down. "Reply to FAQs about my courses" is specific. "Help my customers" is too vague to actually configure.

The third is 15-20 minutes of focused time. That's it.

Step 1 — Find Lobster Father In Telegram

Open Telegram and search the search bar for "Lobster Father" — verify the official handle is @LobsterFather before you start the chat. Tap to open and tap "Start". You're in.

Step 2 — Get Your Token

Lobster Father will guide you through onboarding inside the chat. Follow the prompts and you'll get a token, which is your "key" to let external platforms control AI agents on your Telegram.

Long-press to copy the token and save it somewhere safe like a password manager.

Step 3 — Pick Your Platform

Lobster Father integrates with three main platforms, each with different strengths.

Tealawware is strong on workflow logic and complex routing. GPT agents are strong on conversational quality. Lazy AI is strong on the fastest setup.

For your first agent, I'd pick Lazy AI because it has the easiest learning curve. Sign up at the platform's website to get started.

Step 4 — Configure Your Agent

In your chosen platform, look for the Lobster Father / Telegram integration section and paste your token. Then configure the basics.

Set the conversation style (formal, casual, technical, friendly). Pick the functions you want (reply to messages, welcome new members, run FAQ, escalate). Pick the AI model (GPT-4, Llama, Mistral — choices vary by platform). Set the rules like "always sign messages from Julian" or "if asked about pricing, link to my booking page".

Save the config.

Step 5 — Test It

Send a test message to your agent in Telegram and watch the response.

There are three things to check. Does it reply at all? If not, check the token connection. Does the tone match what you set? If not, tweak the conversation style. Does it follow your rules? If not, refine your prompt.

Adjust and re-test. After 5-10 test messages, you'll have a clear sense of what needs improving.

Step 6 (Optional) — Build A Master + Sub-Agent Architecture

Once one agent works, level up to the master/sub-agent pattern.

A master agent listens to every message and routes intelligently to sub-agents, each of which has one specific job. A typical structure has a master agent reading everything and routing, a welcome sub-agent handling first-time messages, an FAQ sub-agent answering common questions, a sales sub-agent handling pricing questions, and an escalation sub-agent flagging complex issues to you.

I cover this architecture in Master Vs Sub Agents Telegram architecture — it's the same multi-agent pattern from OpenClaw computer use.

Step 7 (Optional) — Connect To Telegram Business

If you want your agent acting on customer messages directly, enable Telegram Business in your account settings, link your Business account in Lobster Father, and pick which agents handle customer messages.

Now your agent replies to customers 24/7 without you in the loop.

Common Setup Issues

There are four issues people commonly hit during setup.

The first is the token not working. Re-copy the token from Lobster Father and make sure you're not pasting trailing whitespace.

The second is the agent failing to reply. Check the platform integration is enabled — some platforms require you to "publish" the agent before it goes live.

The third is the agent giving weird answers. Refine the prompt, add specific rules, and test with edge cases until the behaviour matches your expectations.

The fourth is token expiry. Lobster Father sometimes regenerates tokens, so be ready to refresh in your platform when that happens.

What To Automate First

After setup, here's the order I'd automate things over your first month.

Week 1: Welcome message

Easy win. Auto-greet new community members.

Week 2: Top 5 FAQs

The common questions you get repeatedly — pricing, hours, how to access courses.

Week 3: Spam filter

Identify and dismiss obvious spam and scam messages before they reach you.

Week 4: Escalation rules

If the agent can't handle something, route it to you with full context so you don't have to reconstruct the conversation.

By the end of month one, you've automated 70-80% of your Telegram inbox.

Maintenance

Lobster Father isn't entirely set-and-forget, but maintenance is light.

Weekly, read 10 random conversations, spot mistakes like wrong answers or missed escalations, and refine prompts to fix the recurring issues.

Monthly, review which sub-agents are overloaded, add new sub-agents for common new use cases, and update FAQs based on new questions you're getting.

15 minutes a week pays back hours of saved inbox time.

What Lobster Father Doesn't Do (Yet)

Be honest about the limits.

Voice message support is limited. Highly custom workflows still need code underneath. Free platform tiers run out for active business use.

For most needs, none of these are dealbreakers.

Daily Reality

What it looks like once it's running.

At 8am you check overnight messages handled by the agent — typically 10-30 in my case. At 8:05 you review escalations and reply manually. Throughout the day the agent handles incoming routinely. At 6pm you do a quick check on agent performance.

I spend roughly 30 minutes daily on Telegram now versus 2-3 hours before the agent. The maths is hard to ignore.
